The true American recipe for Mac and Cheese, an iconic dish of American cuisine, has a rich and varied history.

American President Thomas Jefferson is said to have discovered cheesy pasta dishes in Europe before introducing them to the White House in 1802.

However, it was in 1937 that Kraft Foods began marketing its famous blue boxes of Mac and Cheese, which quickly became a hit during the Great Depression.

Modern Mac and Cheese, with its cheesy béchamel sauce, was popularized by recipes from the late 18th century and has been widely adopted in American cuisine.
